Chat with Rover

Use the Naalya AI assistant to get answers and help with your work.

Rover is the school's built-in AI assistant. When you have a quick question — about a policy, how something works, or where to find what you need — you can just ask, and Rover answers in plain language. This guide shows you how to start a conversation.

Before you start

You only need to be signed in to the staff hub. Rover sits in your sidebar and is ready whenever you are — no setup required.

Step 1: Open Rover

In the left sidebar, click Rover (it has a small robot icon). This opens the Naalya AI page, where you'll see the welcome message Start a conversation with Naalya AI - Rover.

Step 2: Ask your question

In the box that says Ask Rover anything..., type what you'd like to know — for example, "What's the procedure for marking a student late?" Write it the way you'd ask a colleague; full sentences work best.

Step 3: Send it

Press Enter, or click the send button at the end of the box. Rover begins typing its reply, and you'll see the answer appear a few words at a time as it thinks.

Give Rover a moment

The answer streams in live, so it's normal to see it build up gradually rather than appear all at once.

Step 4: Keep the conversation going

Once Rover has replied, a new box appears at the bottom that says Say something.... Type a follow-up there — "And who do I report that to?" — and send it. Rover remembers what you've already discussed, so you can keep refining without repeating yourself.

What Rover can help with

Rover is a good first stop for everyday questions, such as:

  • How a task or process works in the school.
  • Where to find a feature or piece of information.
  • Quick explanations of school policies and guidelines.

Rover's answers draw on your school's knowledge base — the collection of documents and notes your team has added. The more that's in there, the more helpful and accurate Rover becomes.

Answers depend on the knowledge base

If Rover doesn't know something, it may be because the information hasn't been added yet. An admin can fill the gap by updating the knowledge base.

What happens next

Your conversation stays on screen while you work, so you can scroll back over earlier answers. When you're done, just move on to another part of the sidebar — Rover will be waiting the next time you need it.
