View the audit log
See who changed what across the school, and search the activity trail.
The audit log is the school's activity trail — a record of every meaningful action staff take in the hub. When you need to answer "who created this account?" or "who changed that record, and when?", this is where you look. This guide shows you how to open it, read an entry, and narrow the list down to what you're after.
Before you start
You need permission to read audit logs. If you don't see Audit Logs under the Access section in the sidebar, ask another school admin to grant it.
Step 1: Open Audit Logs
In the left sidebar, find the Access section and click Audit Logs. The page opens with the heading Audit Logs and two tabs: Overview and Logs.
Step 2: Skim the Overview
The Overview tab gives you the big picture at a glance:
- Total Logs — how many actions have been recorded.
- Allowed and Denied — how many actions went through versus were blocked.
- Unique Users — how many different people have been active.
- Latest Log — the date of the most recent activity.
Below the stats is an Activity chart of daily events. Use the All Decisions / Allowed / Denied dropdown to focus it, and the Today / 7D / 30D / 3M buttons to change the time window. At the bottom, Recent Logs lists the latest few actions.
Step 3: Switch to the full Logs list
Click the Logs tab to see every entry in a table. Each row tells you the whole story of one action:
- User — who did it (their name and email).
- Action — what they did, e.g. Create, Update, Delete.
- Resource — which kind of record it touched (for example a student or a role).
- Label — the friendly name of that specific record.
- Decision — whether the action was Allowed or Denyed.
- Type, Resource ID, Campus, User Agent, and IP Address — extra detail on where the action came from.
See more about one action
Click a person's name in the User column to open a side panel with the full details of that single log entry.
Step 4: Search for an entry
Use the Search logs... box at the top left to find activity by a person's name or email, the record's label, or the reason. The list updates a moment after you stop typing.
Step 5: Filter the list
Next to the search box you have two more controls:
- Resource type — type a kind of record (for example a student or a role) to show only actions on that.
- Allow / Deny / All — show only allowed actions, only blocked ones, or everything.
Tidy up the columns
The table has more columns than fit comfortably. Use the list button (top right) to turn columns on or off, and the refresh button next to it to pull in the very latest activity without reloading the page.
What happens next
- The audit log keeps a permanent, read-only history — you can review actions but never change them.
- A Deny entry is just as useful as an Allow: it shows someone tried to do something they weren't permitted to.
- Every action staff take across the hub is recorded here automatically, so the trail stays complete on its own.
